Let’s admit that most of us are too lazy to wash our dirty dishes at home after eating. That’s the reason why humankind invented a machine called “dishwasher” in 1850. And today, dishwashers are continuously evolving in sync with the technology with its added features.
But of course, things may change, maybe. Why? Because a design studio from Sweden – Tomorrow Machine and a research company called Innventia are developing a clever way to eliminate the need to “wash” the dishes after eating/using it. They developed a dinner plate that clean itself. How did they do that?
According to Digital Trends, “this clever new dishware is made entirely from cellulose (plant pulp) with a superhydrophobic coating around it. In other words, it’s a renewable material that’s designed to repel liquids on a molecular level, causing droplets to bead and roll off rather than flatten and stick.” That means you don’t have to scrub the plate nor use water in cleaning. All you have to do is to hold it over a sink and see the food gunk slide their way off the plate. How cool was that?!
The plate will also be as hard as a ceramic, shatterproof and very lightweight.
