Baguio City at Benguet Philippines was considered as the “Summer Capital of the Philippines” because of its cold weather every day of the year. I think that’s the thing why thousands of South Koreans are visiting the city.
They are really everywhere! You can see Koreans at the Starbucks or at Figaro. Walking around SM City Baguio, buying their fresh produce at the wet market, running on the Burnham Park every morning and a whole lot more. No wonder why Korean establishments are starting to move in.
According to my research, majority of South Koreans go to Baguio to study English Language. Since tuition fees are lower compared to other countries, they chose to be here with us. I even heard reports that South Korean families migrate here so their small children can finish his/her study here in the Philippines. Only the father stays in Korea to take care of their business.
Another thing is that Korean teenagers choose to be at Baguio to escape their parents’ too much intervention in their life. Is that true?
