It was a horrible event that my laptop's built-in wireless LAN which is controlled by Atheros have just crashed. For almost a week, I am surfing the Internet using a wired-connection which I am not used to. By the way, my laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6000 running on a Windows 7 Ultimate Operating System.
I went to the computer repair shop and they suggested to change the adapter installed. According to them, including the labor, it will cost 184.71200 U.S. dollars! (That's a big ouch for my pocket!) But there's an alternative - "CDR-KING WIRELESS-N LAN USB ADAPTER CW-mini150", the smallest WIRELESS-N LAN USB ADAPTER! Here are some specifications:
Frequency Band: 2.4Ghz
Standards:
IEEE 802.11b/802.11g
IEEE 802.11n
Interface: USB 2.0/1.1
Security: WPA2/WPA-PAK (TKIP & AES) WEP 64/128-bit 802.1x
Data rate:
Transmitting: Up to 150Mpbs
Receiving: Up to 150Mbps
Antenna Type : Built-in 1 chip antenna
LED: Link/Power
Temperature:
Operating: 0 ~ 55°C (32~131°F
Storage: -20 ~ 70 °C (-4 ~ 158°)
As of today, that device is working so well. Its size is smaller than TRENDnet's "smallest wannabe". It is an actual imitation of the same adapter created by D-LINK. And the performance was very great because it has a better data range than this HP's built-in wireless adapter.
